Jonathan Moore visited Imam Beganović

Ambassador Jonathan Moore, Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited Imam Selvedin Beganović in Velika Kladuša. As announced by the OSCE Mission, Ambassador Moore expressed support and respect for Imam Beganović's commitment to his faith and his clear message of tolerance and against extremism, reports the Patria News Agency.

Before meeting with Beganović, Ambassador Moore spoke with the Rais al-Ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein ef. Kavazović, and the Mufti of Bihać, Hasan ef. Makić, about Imam Beganović's stance and the attacks he is exposed to.

Ambassador Moore also emphasized the need for personal security for Imam Beganović in his talks with state, federal, and cantonal police authorities.

- The violation of human rights and freedoms, which includes attacks on individuals who convey messages of peace and understanding, is unacceptable. BiH needs progress and tolerance to achieve the goals the people want to achieve, which are economic and social development - said Moore, adding that "Rais Kavazović, Imam Beganović, and others, whose leadership and authority are unquestionable and whose rejection of violence is absolute, deserve our deep respect."
