Jews from the EU seek legal changes: They want Brussels to allow them to carry weapons

The largest Jewish organization in the European Union has asked Brussels to allow Jews to carry weapons for personal protection, due to fears of attacks on their religious communities, following the attacks in Paris, media reported, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- The attacks in Paris reveal that diplomatic talks are no longer sufficient and that it is time for action - reads the letter from Rabbi Menachem Margolin, head of the European Jewish Organization, the largest organization of its kind on the Old Continent, sent to European officials in Brussels.

Margolin is convinced that the four Jews killed in a supermarket in Paris, at the time of the attack on the editorial office of the Parisian satirical magazine, were executed solely because they were Jews.

- For precisely this reason, we ask the lawmakers of the European Union to immediately amend the laws so that certain individuals in Jewish communities can possess weapons for personal protection, as well as for the protection of the communities in which they live - wrote the rabbi.
