Jeleč calls on AF BiH members to be vigilant

Upon completion of obligations at the BiH Prosecutor's Office, on 23.11.2015, and in order to inform the public in a timely manner, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, Lieutenant General Anto Jeleč, with his deputies Major Generals Mirko Tepšić and Senad Mašović, held a meeting of the military collective in the premises of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, attended by members of all organizational units of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The purpose of the meeting was to internally inform the members of the military collective of the Joint Staff regarding the recent unfortunate and tragic events:

- the murders and injuries of AF BiH members in front of the "Rajlovac" barracks on the evening of November 18, 2015, in Sarajevo, which was officially assessed by the competent state institutions as a terrorist act against the AF BiH and Bosnia and Herzegovina,

- the incident of throwing an explosive device in front of the official vehicle of the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, General Jeleč, on the afternoon of November 20, 2015, in the "Salakovac" tunnel on the M-17 highway Sarajevo-Mostar.

At the beginning of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in honor of the murdered AF BiH members.

- The Armed Forces of BiH are one family that has unfortunately lost two of its members. An attack on unarmed members of the AF BiH represents an attack on the entire Armed Forces and our country BiH - stated General Jeleč.

After analyzing the mentioned events, General Jeleč called on all members of the AF BiH to be extra vigilant, as well as to perform their daily tasks and obligations at their positions in a timely, high-quality, professional, and responsible manner.

General Jeleč particularly emphasized the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation among all members, both within the Joint Staff of the AF BiH and between the AF BiH and all entities of the defense and security system of BiH, in order to prevent and avert such and similar events and occurrences in the future. He stressed the importance of the personal security of each member of the AF BiH, as well as the significance of timely implementation of operational security measures during the execution of all planned and extraordinary activities of the commands and units of the AF BiH at all deployment locations throughout BiH.

After issuing orders and instructions for further work to the members of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH, General Jeleč initiated a voluntary financial aid collection for the families of the murdered AF BiH members, which was unanimously accepted during the meeting.

At the end of his address, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the AF BiH stated that the AF BiH, as a guarantor and factor of peace and stability in BiH, regardless of being targeted by the enemies of our country, is determined to continue with even greater resolve, efficiency, and courage in realizing its mission and tasks in the service and interest of all citizens of our country, in order to strengthen and build a better and more prosperous BiH.
