One of the most important projects for Ilidža Municipality: The regulation of the Željeznica riverbed continues

(Patria) - Ilidža Municipality, in cooperation with the Sava River Basin Agency, continues with the regulation of the Željeznica riverbed, and a new contract was signed today at the Agency's premises, which will continue the work on regulating the riverbed in the settlement of Otes.

The Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, and the acting director of the Sava River Basin Agency, Sejad Delić, signed the contract, thanks to which another 148 meters of the Željeznica riverbed will be regulated, in a location that proved critical during the 2021 floods.

Mayor Muzur expressed his satisfaction that the work on this extremely important project for Ilidža and its citizens will soon continue, and half a million convertible marks have been allocated for this purpose.

- Ilidža is one of the more challenging local communities and as such requires constant preventive action. After successfully completing the first section of the Željeznica riverbed regulation at the entrance to the Otes Local Community, we are now continuing with a new section. Through the implementation of this project, we want to further protect our fellow citizens and their property in the future, and prevent scenarios like the one from 2021 through preventive action - emphasized Mayor Muzur, adding:

- Ilidža Municipality will strive to fully regulate the course of the Željeznica river, in close cooperation with the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Sava River Basin Agency, with whose help and mutual cooperation the regulation of the first section of the Željeznica river course was successfully carried out.

As a reminder, through the support of the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton and the then-responsible minister Adnan Delić, funds were secured for land expropriation, and then, in agreement with the Sava River Basin Agency, expropriation lines were drawn for the purpose of regulating the Željeznica riverbed, downstream from the bridge in Otes to the confluence with the Bosna River.
