Public Demands Answers to Five Questions Posed to Sebija Izetbegović

The public in Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to eagerly await developments regarding the plan to merge the General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš" with the University Clinical Center Sarajevo (UKCS), a plan skillfully devised by the current director of UKCS, Sebija Izetbegović, writes the Patria News Agency.

Although the plans have been halted for now, and the FBiH Government has begun a deception, claiming it was never planned without an expert and comprehensive study, the KS Prosecutor's Office is investigating why doctors and staff at the General Hospital received a document on January 7th, requesting their voluntary transfer to UKCS, dated January 6th (the day the UKCS Management Board appointed Izetbegović as director).

Director Izetbegović skillfully avoids the media, and one interview was released to the public in which she sent certain messages, but even after the publication of that interview, the public remains dissatisfied and seeks answers to several other questions.

Thus, five questions have emerged for Izetbegović, and the public awaits answers:

- How is it that no one else "dared" to apply for the position of UKCS director? Are you, Ms. Izetbegović, simply that superior scientifically, professionally, organizationally, with strong managerial skills compared to other potential candidates?

(The answer to this question is not that everyone else besides Sebija Izetbegović was afraid of the job! Perhaps they were afraid of something else? Sebija's husband? Her husband's party? Sebija's tongue, aggressive demeanor, and vengeful character?)

- How do you view the potential merger of the General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš," where you served as director for the past three years, and UKCS, especially since significant funds of around 10 million KM were invested in the General Hospital for capital investments, equipment, and facilities during your tenure? How is it that you are now advocating for all of this to be demolished and the building's purpose changed? Who will return 10 million KM to the citizens?

- If the General Hospital was so good, successful, and beneficial for patients, as you claimed during your three-year term, how is it that this same hospital is now suddenly not good enough and does not serve its purpose and the citizens of Sarajevo Canton?

- Do you consider it inappropriate for the wife of a member of the BiH Presidency, a high-ranking state official, to simultaneously be the director of the largest healthcare institution in BiH, and how do you view this? Is this not a model followed by failed Eastern European communist dictators and Arab kings and rulers?

- And finally, what specifically qualifies you, what qualities and abilities, to be the director of the largest healthcare institution in BiH, which is also the largest scientific base for medical staff? How do you view your scientific achievements to date, considering you are cited only 27 times in the Google Scholar scientific database.

There are no answers to these questions for now, but it is certain that the public will not give up its intention to preserve the General Hospital and prevent the arbitrariness of individuals who are perpetrating a historical injustice against the citizens of Sarajevo, and indeed the entire BiH.
