Public Works: Two-month jobs for 429 people

Public works have started in the Sarajevo Canton, employing 429 people for two months who applied for the Public Works Program, and for the public call that the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton announced to employers in June, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The call was addressed to companies registered for activities in the fields of environmental improvement and construction and reconstruction of infrastructure in landslide and flood-prone areas, social protection in the Sarajevo Canton, culture, tourism, and fair events.

The Service has provided 663,000.00 KM for this program, and employers who passed the public call will be refunded monthly gross amounts of 771.57 KM per engaged person.

The goal of the Program is to engage the most vulnerable categories of unemployed persons and beneficiaries of social protection rights for a period of two months, namely: parents of children with disabilities of at least 80% disability, victims of domestic violence, former residents of homes for neglected children, treated psychoactive substance addicts, Roma, parents/guardians of children entitled to child allowance, persons with mental and physical development impairments, and persons with disabilities caused by injury or illness.

The monthly net compensation for work under this program for engaged persons is 600.00 KM.

According to data from the Department for Employment Incentive Affairs, over 100 unemployed persons from the registry have been engaged so far through the Public Works Program, with KJKP Rad employing the largest number of workers – 80 people.

In addition to KJKP Rad, unemployed persons will also be engaged in the JU for Protected Areas, KJP Sarajevo Šume d.o.o., the Memorial Fund, JU Gerontology Center, the Red Cross, and other institutions.

At KJKP Rad, engaged persons will work on garbage collection, street washing, and cleaning illegal landfills in the upcoming period.

Persons engaged in the JU for Protected Areas are already working on Trebević, where they are arranging two walking paths, from the parking lot to Pitine stijene and Vidikovac, as well as on the trim trail from the first forester towards Brus.

The remaining number of unemployed persons will be engaged after the signing of contracts between the Service and employers who applied for the public call.
