Public debate on the lease of municipal apartments in Stari Grad to young married couples

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Municipal Council of Stari Grad determined at its 35th session the draft Decision on leasing apartments to persons up to 30 years of age from this municipality. The draft decision envisages that young people up to 30 years of age will be enabled to lease an apartment owned by the Municipality of Stari Grad. This right will be available to young married couples who do not have their housing issue resolved, live as tenants, and have not previously resolved their housing issue through the Municipality of Stari Grad.

Another condition is that they have had registered residence in this municipality for at least five consecutive years. The Municipality will lease apartments over which it has ownership or the right of disposal, and in case they need renovation, the tenants will bear these costs, but the funds invested in the adaptation will be compensated through rent. Apartments will be leased for a maximum period of ten years.

Given that this is a draft decision, a public debate begins today, which will last for 15 days, and the Municipal Council and its working bodies, political parties or councilor clubs, the municipal mayor and services of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, local community councils, and citizens can participate with their proposals and suggestions for the creation of this decision.

Proposals and suggestions for the public debate can be submitted in writing to the Service for Property-Legal, Geodetic Affairs, Cadastre and Housing Affairs, every working day from 07:30 to 16:00.

The intention is to help young people solve their housing issues in this way, but also to give them a chance to stay in BiH, i.e., the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo.
