Jasna Duraković leaves SBB: I will not vote for the dismissal of the KS Government

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The mystery that has prevailed since the end of last year when SBB representative Jasna Duraković did not attend the KS Assembly session on December 26 and did not put her signature on the request for the dismissal of the KS Government has ended. She announced herself on the social network Facebook with a longer status.

"For the sake of all citizens, voters, my students, friends, and the public in general, I feel the need to address you publicly and announce that I will not vote for the dismissal of the current Government of Sarajevo Canton, that I am leaving SBB, and that I will remain an independent representative and have no intention of returning my mandate in the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, although it is expected of me. Many well-intentioned friends, and also those who are 'well-intentioned,' warned me not to do this and scared me with severe consequences, hostilities, fabricated affairs, and the like, especially for a woman who has no protection from her father, brother, or husband behind her, and is also a single mother of a minor child. However, on principle, I cannot support the betrayal of our promises and agreements at any cost, especially when it comes to such a positive story as the one with the Government of Sarajevo Canton. By doing so, I would most crudely betray the moral, educational, political, and all other legacies of my late father, dr. Nijaz Duraković, who did not want to yield even in the face of much more difficult challenges. That is also why I will not return the mandate, which I earned with my name and surname in the last elections, because by doing so I would hand it over to people who would obediently raise their hands for whatever they are told," Duraković stated.

She thanked Fahrudin Radončić, the president of SBB, for the opportunity, which she says she honestly tried to justify, but on this principle, their paths diverge.

"My official letter of resignation from SBB will be sent by registered mail. It is imperative to adhere to correct political and human principles because a person of character must consider their word and promise, and what is right and honest, with ultimate respect for the common person. I have, you see, made this decision, which was not easy at all, and I ask all of you for your support and understanding," Duraković stated.
