Jasmila Žbanić named European Director 2021

(Patria) - Bosnian director Jasmila Žbanić won the award “European Director 2021” as part of the 34th European Film Awards. The announcement was made this evening in Berlin, with most candidates attending online.

The film “Quo vadis Aida?” was declared the best “European Film 2021”, and actress Jasna Đuričić was named best European actress 2021.

- This is a true, painful story about the events, the massacre in Srebrenica. At the Bosnian premiere of the film, she invited only people born after the war, who showed an openness that perhaps others lack. We hope that we will too - these are the words with which the film was announced.

“Thank you all. I thank the women of Srebrenica, who are the strongest voice for peace in Europe,” said Žbanić.
