January is here, and it's about time: Snow blankets Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - Snow has blanketed cities, mountains, and villages across our homeland this morning. As expected, if not in January, when else would it snow?

Drivers are in the biggest trouble - as always, roads are barely passable because the white blanket has, once again, surprised the on-duty services.

Judging by the videos circulating on social media, the highways in our country are not cleared at all, so if you are a driver - caution is advised.

Temperatures measured at 10 AM: Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Ivan Sedlo, Sokolac, Srebrenica, Tuzla, Zenica 0°C, Doboj, Gradačac, Jajce, Prijedor, Sanski Most, Sarajevo 1°C, Livno 4°C, Mostar and Trebinje 12°C, Neum 14°C.

The Federal Hydrometeorological Institute forecasts cloudy weather with rain in Herzegovina, and rain and snow in Bosnia for today. Heavier precipitation is expected in Herzegovina, and in the central, eastern, and western parts of Bosnia.

The depth of the new snow cover will generally be between 10 and 25 centimeters, and up to 40 centimeters in the mountains.

Wind in Bosnia will be light to moderate, easterly and northeasterly, and in Herzegovina moderate to strong, southerly and southwesterly. Air temperature in Bosnia will be between -2 and 4°C, and in Herzegovina from 8 to 14°C.

BH meteo forecasts that tonight, due to rising temperatures in the upper atmosphere, snow will turn into rain and freezing rain.
