Severe storm hits Živinice: Wind uproots trees and tears roofs off houses

A severe storm accompanied by gale-force winds caused damage in the municipality of Živinice today around 12:30 PM. The wind that hit this area and lasted for less than an hour knocked down trees, and damage was also inflicted on other structures, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria. 

Enver Jukić, head of the municipal Civil Protection, said that the wind uprooted trees and tore roofs off houses in the Živinice local communities of Podgajevi, Višća and Đurđevik. Some places were left without electricity due to damage to power poles.

Three cars were damaged, as well as the roof of the Đurđevik Elementary School. Trees were also knocked down in the yards of the Višća and Đurđevik Elementary Schools. In the urban zone, the wind toppled pine trees and broke tree branches, while at the cemetery of the Islamic Center mosque in Živinice, the wind also knocked down the gate.

On that occasion, one car sustained minor damage. Members of the RMU Đurđevik Fire Department were also on the scene.
