Jadranko Prlić to Serve Sentence in the United Kingdom

(Patria) - Former prime minister of the so-called Herceg-Bosna, convicted war criminal Jadranko Prlić, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison in November 2017, will be transferred to serve his sentence in the United Kingdom, announced the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.

In the decision signed by Judge Theodor Meron, it is recalled that the Mechanism, i.e. the Hague Tribunal, reached an agreement with the United Kingdom in March 2004 on the enforcement of prison sentences for Hague convicts in that country, and that the United Kingdom has expressed its willingness to receive Prlić for serving his sentence. Meron states that the Mechanism has sent an official request to the Government of the United Kingdom. Until a response is received, Prlić remains in the Mechanism's detention cell.

- If the United Kingdom agrees, Jadranko Prlić will also be informed so that all preparations for his transfer can be made - the decision states.

Prlić and five other officials of the so-called Herceg-Bosna (Slobodan Praljak committed suicide during the pronouncement of the verdict) were sentenced to a total of 111 years in prison for war crimes and a joint criminal enterprise in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
