Champions League groups drawn for the season

The draw for the 2016/2017 Champions League group stage was held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo.

The seeded teams for this season were Real Madrid, the defending champions, Barcelona, the Spanish champions, Leicester, the English champions, Bayern Munich, the German champions, Juventus, the Italian league winners, Benfica, the Portuguese champions, PSG, the French champions, and CSKA Moscow, the top team from the Russian championship.

Four teams will be placed in each group, labeled A through H, and the draw determined the following matchups:

The competition in this season's Champions League begins on September 13 and 14, with the first round of the group stage. The draw for the knockout phase is scheduled for December 12, and the competition starts on February 14 and 15, 2017.

The quarterfinal pairings will be drawn on March 17, 2017, and the competition among the top eight teams begins on April 11 and 12, while the semifinal pairings will be drawn on April 21, with matches scheduled for May 2 and 3.

The final will be played on June 3, 2017, at the National Stadium in Wales, Cardiff. As mentioned, Real Madrid are the defending champions.
