Development of planning and study documentation for the Adriatic-Ionian Highway section through BiH

(Patria) - Organized by the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a presentation of the project "Development of planning and study documentation for the Adriatic-Ionian Highway through Bosnia and Herzegovina" (Počitelj – Neum – Trebinje – border with Montenegro) with a visualization of the conceptual design of the route was held today.

The Deputy Minister of Communications and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Saša Dalipagić, emphasized at the beginning of the presentation that the Adriatic-Ionian Highway is one of the priority infrastructure projects for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which also has regional importance.

Namely, the Adriatic-Ionian Highway is part of the corridor of the same name, with a total length of about 1,110 km, passing through seven countries: starting from Trieste in Italy, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, BiH, Montenegro, Albania, and ending at the Port of Igoumenitsa in Greece. The passage of the route through Bosnia and Herzegovina is planned for a length of about 7 km, and it connects with Montenegro at the defined junction point in the Aranđelovo/Nudo area.

"We in Bosnia and Herzegovina want the Adriatic-Ionian Highway to pass through BiH and for the length of the highway route to be about 110 kilometers, starting from Počitelj, where there would be an interchange with Corridor Vc, then through parts of the municipalities of Čapljina, Stolac, Neum, Ravno, Ljubinje, Popovom polje to Trebinje and the connection point with Montenegro in the Aranđeleovo/Nudo area. The passage of this highway through parts of the aforementioned municipalities would significantly impact the economic development of that part of BiH and the connectivity of the region and the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina with Western and Southeastern Europe and Asia," emphasized Deputy Minister Dalipagić.

The value of the contract for the development of this project was KM 4,289,220 with VAT, and the completion deadline was 18 months. The planning and study documentation was prepared by companies in the consortium IPSA Sarajevo and IG Banja Luka, with subcontractors Integra Mostar and EKO plan Mostar.
