Relocation of migrants from abandoned buildings in the Bihać area to the Lipa camp

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the Bihać area, in the early morning hours, the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior of the Una-Sana Canton, carried out an operation to relocate migrants from abandoned buildings of the former Bihać factory Krajina-Metal and the former Home for Pensioners.

In the abandoned buildings, 168 migrants were found and transported by buses to the temporary reception center Lipa.

For the relocation procedure, several police officers and additional staff of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs were engaged, who provided assistance to the Service Inspectors in carrying out the relocation of migrants.

Medical teams from the humanitarian organizations SOS from Bihać and the cantonal Red Cross were also engaged, providing migrants with medical examinations on site.

Upon arrival at the temporary reception center Lipa, all migrants were examined by the medical team of the Bihać Health Center, and scabies was found in 20 migrants, who were immediately medically treated. After the medical examinations, a biometric verification of individuals followed, and the process of their registration and issuance of ID cards was initiated, along with the distribution of food and non-food items.

These operational activities are the result of conclusions from previously held meetings with the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Service, and representatives of the Ministry of Interior of the Una-Sana Canton. These activities will continue in the coming period.
