Traffic regime changes in Old Town and Centar from Thursday, police to increase vehicle surveillance

(Patria) - At the request of the City Administration of Sarajevo, the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton has approved a temporary change in the traffic regime for the public New Year's Eve celebration in 2024, which will be carried out by police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton.

From December 28, 2023, at 08:00 AM to January 1, 2024, at 03:00 AM, traffic is prohibited in the left lane of Maršala Tita Street, in the section from the Eternal Flame monument to Kulovića Street and the left sidewalk section, while the remaining part of the roadway and sidewalk will remain open for traffic.

On December 30, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, due to the general rehearsal of the musical performance, traffic for motor vehicles is prohibited in Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street, in the section from the intersection with Pehlivanuša Street to the intersection with Kaptol Street, and in Maršala Tita Street, in the section from the intersection with Kaptol Street to the intersection with Kulovića Street. The prohibition does not apply to emergency and fire services, police, and escorted vehicles.

Also, on December 30, 2023, from 08:00 AM to January 1, 2024, at 03:00 AM, a prohibition of traffic and parking of motor vehicles will be in effect in Kaptol Street, in the section from the intersection with Mehmeda Spahe Street to the intersection with Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street.

For Sunday, December 31, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 03:00 AM on January 1, 2024, the following is planned:

- Prohibition of traffic for motor vehicles in Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street from the intersection with Pehlivanuša Street to the intersection with Kaptol Street, and in Maršala Tita Street from the intersection with Kaptol Street to the intersection with Radićeva Street (the prohibition does not apply to emergency and fire services, police, and escorted vehicles);
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Ćemaluša Street, in the section from the intersection with Mula Mustafe Bašeskije Street to the intersection with Branilaca Sarajeva Street;
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Kulovića Street, in the section from the intersection with Branilaca Sarajeva Street to the intersection with Maršala Tita Street;
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Dalmatinska Street, in the section from the intersection with Mehmeda Spahe Street to the intersection with Maršala Tita Street;
- Prohibition of parking in Alije Isakovića Street, in the immediate vicinity of Maršala Tita Street;
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Pruščakova Street, in the section from the intersection with Mehmeda Spahe Street to the intersection with Maršala Tita Street;
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Trampina Street, in the section from the intersection with Mehmeda Spahe Street to the intersection with Maršala Tita Street;
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Šenoina Street, in the section from the intersection with Branilaca Sarajeva Street to the intersection with Maršala Tita Street;
- Prohibition of traffic and parking in Radićeva Street, in the section from the intersection with Branilaca Sarajeva Street to the intersection with Maršala Tita Street.


Prohibition of parking of motor vehicles on Sunday, December 31, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, in Zelenih beretki and Branilaca Sarajeva Streets, from the intersection with Ćumurija Street to the intersection with Radićeva Street, due to the New Year's concert of the Sarajevo Philharmonic.

Alternative routes during the traffic regime changes are:

Lapišnica – M-5 – Put Mladih Muslimana (for trucks and buses);
Obala Kulina Bana – Bentbaša – M-5 – Put Mladih Muslimana (for trucks and buses);
Sagrdžije – Telali – Safvet-bega Bašagića (for trucks);
Sagrdžije – Kračule – Brodac – Obala Kulina Bana;
Mula Mustafe Bašeskije – Pehlivanuša – Petrakijina – Mehmed-paše Sokolovića – Mejtaš – Čekaluša – Džidžikovac;
Koševo – Maršala Tita;
Branilaca Sarajeva – Mis Irbina – Musala – Maršala Tita;
Branilaca Sarajeva – Mis Irbina – Reisa Džemaludina Čauševića – Obala Kulina bana.

We appeal to all traffic participants to respect the orders of authorized officials during the implementation of these activities.

We remind the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, as well as all guests, that increased controls of traffic participants are in effect from December 20 to January 15, with a special emphasis on driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a driver's license.

Therefore, we emphasize once again that driving under the influence of alcohol is a punishable and unacceptable behavior, dangerous for the driver and all other traffic participants. Even small amounts of alcohol have a significantly adverse effect on driving and driver behavior – they impair vision and slow down reactions.
