Turnout higher than in 2010

The majority of polling stations in Bosnia and Herzegovina closed at 7 PM, while some will remain open longer for citizens who have not yet managed to vote, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP)

Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the General Elections that began this morning at seven o'clock, elected members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives to the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, to the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament, the National Assembly of RS, the president and vice-presidents of RS, and cantonal assemblies, choosing from 7,748 candidates, 50 political parties, 24 coalitions, 24 independent candidates, and a total of 735 candidate lists.

According to data from the Central Election Commission of BiH, in the entity of Republika Srpska, by 3 PM, 488,952 voters or 40.43 percent of citizens eligible to vote had turned out.

In the Federation of BiH, by 3 PM, 692,326 voters or 34.31 percent of the total 2,018,038 eligible voters had turned out.

According to data from the CEC BiH, a higher voter turnout was recorded compared to the General Elections in 2010, reports NAP.
