Construction of underground garage in full swing, aiming to open traffic as soon as possible

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The underground garage in Avdaga Šahinagića street will be completed in November, confirmed Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić at a press conference where this year's projects of the Old Town Municipality were presented. The investment value will amount to up to seven million convertible marks, including tax, and the Municipality is financing the construction with loan funds.

“By charging for the services the garage will offer, the Old Town Municipality will be able to repay not only the loan debt for this project, but also for the other three capital projects we started in March this year – the Health Center, the sports hall, and the municipal building,” said Hadžibajrić.

According to what can be seen on the ground, the works are progressing excellently and level -1 is almost completed. Today, formwork is being removed from 2/3 of the slab at the construction site and reinforcement is being placed on the remaining 1/3, with the plan to complete the slab this week. The staircase between levels 0 and -1 is being worked on simultaneously.

According to announcements from the construction site, the structure should be completed by mid-October, after which work on the surrounding roads will begin. The goal is to open traffic at this location as soon as possible. We remind you that traffic from Avdaga Šahinagića street will be redirected to the right in the future, around the plateau and the garage, and vehicles will merge onto the New Vijećnica Bridge at the traffic light. This way, neither the residents of the street nor the drivers will be endangered by traffic compared to the previous regime. All these changes are in accordance with the previously adopted Urban Project prepared by the Planning Institute of KS. Simultaneously with the road works, work on the plateau and paving will continue.

The underground garage in the very core will help solve the problem of lack of parking space, but its significance goes beyond that. The multifunctional square will enable the holding of various events throughout the year, and the existing sidewalk along the Miljacka will be widened, turning the section from Šeher-ćehajina bridge into a promenade.
