Although Dragan Čović, leader of HDZ BiH, was willing to bring Fahrudin Radončić, president of SBB, into power, Bakir Izetbegović, deputy president of SDA, was not ready for that, so he started looking for alternatives to the Democratic Front among other parties, the Patria News Agency has learned.
Namely, a story was circulating in political circles as early as yesterday that SDA would bring A-SDA, BPS, and SBiH into power, which would give them a majority of 51 votes in the Federal Parliament and 22 votes in the state parliament.
As confirmed by Amer Jerlagić, president of the Party for BiH, some contacts have been made, but no official meetings have taken place yet.
- A contact was made yesterday in the city with people from the SDA leadership. It was a brief meeting without official talks. I can say that there was communication because we met by chance, but there were no official talks or negotiations.
We will agree to any invitation for talks, and a final agreement on anything can only be known after negotiations. But, if there is an invitation, we will agree to a meeting – Jerlagić said.
Čović has in principle accepted the agreement between SDA and the Democratic Front on the division of ministerial portfolios in the Government of the Federation of BiH as 5+5+5 and one joint ministry, but exclusively on the condition that the Ministry of Finance goes to HDZ, which DF is also insisting on.
There are even some considerations within Komšić's party to perhaps give up on finance, but then the five ministries they request would be "stronger".
Čović announced that a final decision on the formation of the government would be known by noon today. Information has been circulating from the top of SDA and HDZ since this morning that a meeting of the leaders of these two parties is allegedly underway, but no one has officially confirmed it yet.
There is also no official confirmation of DF's definitive withdrawal.
Čović wanted SBB to be a partner in power.
According to Izetbegović's statements so far, who would not have this party in power, as well as Radončić's, who also stated that he is not interested in SDA nor would he be a partner with them, SDA has started searching for new partners.
The only constant at this moment is SDA and HDZ. Everything else is extremely uncertain.
