Izetbegović, Suljić and others: After the KS Medical Chamber, will they take over the Federal Chamber too?

SARAJevo, (Patria) - At the session of the Management Board of the Medical Chamber of Sarajevo Canton held yesterday, preparations were made for taking over the Medical Chamber of FBiH, headed by doctor Harun Drljević. 
 
“There is a plan in motion to take over the FBiH Chamber by the same group of people who have taken over the KS Chamber. They have already sent names of substitute members from KS in advance, and I barely managed to ensure that dr. Esad Bećiragić represents OBS in Zenica on Saturday, September 19th. Their goal is to hold the Election Assembly on the same day as the Reporting Assembly and to change the leadership of the FBiH Chamber and dr. Drljević. I want you to be aware of this and, if possible, to prevent outvoting and other violent procedures in the election process," wrote Jadranka Sormaz, a doctor from the General Hospital "Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš", who attended the Management Board session, informing her colleagues from the General Hospital and director Ismet Gavrankapetanović. 

The Medical Chamber of KS is headed by Ksenija Miladinović, a candidate close to the faction of KCUS director Sebija Izetbegović. The Ethics Committee of the Medical Chamber recently accepted a complaint against Ismet Gavrankapetanović for alleged violation of the medical code. The complaint was filed by pediatricians from KCUS, after doctor Gavrankapetanović publicly condemned the ban on treating the girl Nadin Smajlović. Pediatricians from KCUS stated that Gavrankapetanović called them "child killers", which was a relayed post on Gavrankapetanović's Facebook profile, of which he was not the author at all. 

A second-instance court decision is still awaited regarding the illegality of the Assembly of the Medical Chamber at which new leadership was appointed. 

Although at a press conference on July 17th, the Ethics Committee claimed that the initiated procedure would not lead to the revocation of the license, doctor Gavrankapetanović suspects that the management has such an intention behind it. 

„If there are elements of code violation, the file goes to the Disciplinary Commission, which does its part, and then to the Court of Honor of the Medical Chamber, which has nine doctor members. Their decision can be appealed to the second-instance Disciplinary Court of the Federal Medical Chamber. Penalties can be a warning, a reprimand, or revocation of the license. Revocation of the license is for serious violations of the code, especially those related to medical errors. This chamber has revoked only two licenses, and that was based on a final court decision. This procedure does not lead to the revocation of the license," said the lawyer for the Medical Chamber, Jasmina Cero. 

Although the president of the FBiH Medical Chamber, Harun Drljević, initially condemned the procedure that would lead to the revocation of doctor Gavrankapetanović's medical license and requested data from the KS Medical Chamber regarding the Nadin Smajlović case, he recently completely changed his story.
