Izetbegović preparing to dissolve SDA's Cadre Commission?

The current leadership of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), led by SDA Deputy President Bakir Izetbegović, is preparing a decision to dissolve the party's influential Cadre Commission, sources within the party told the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

At the same time, a significant number of members of the Main Board, as stated for NAP, are signing a request for an extraordinary session of that body regarding the latest dismissals, or to include that item on the agenda of the next SDA Main Board session.

After the dismissal of the security committee headed by Bakir Alispahić, former Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Izetbegović intends to dissolve the Cadre Commission as well, seemingly in an effort to gain control over all party structures ahead of the race for the new SDA president.

The current members of the SDA Cadre Commission are Salko Selman, president, and Adil Osmanović, Šefkija Okerić, Tarik Arapčić, Mirsad Zaimović, Bakir Alispahić, and Alija Budnjo.

Some members of the SDA Presidency, who did not wish to speak publicly about it, told the Patria agency that the dismissals that have occurred and have been announced are part of Izetbegović's plan to deal with all potential rivals before the party congress next year.

- Izetbegović is using the situation where President Tihić is ill and unable to perform his duties, imposing his cadres, and attracting individuals to his side through various internal party dealings and even pressure. The intention behind all of this is to decide on the next SDA president before the Congress - says our source.

Televizija Senada Hadžifejzovića FACE TV published the results of a poll last week on possible successors to Tihić, in which Izetbegović was only in third or fourth place. However, his current de facto acting president position gives him the best starting position in the race for party leader.

Izetbegović pushed through the decision to dismiss the security committee in the absence of two SDA vice-presidents, Adil Osmanović and Sadik Ahmetović, as well as some other members of the SDA Presidency. In doing so, according to Patria sources, Izetbegović also let them know how much he values their opinion.

- No one in the SDA has anything against fighting for the top position, but it must be done in a way that does not harm the party's interests. However, if there are such confrontations, disagreements, and even humiliations of individuals, it can only harm the SDA in the upcoming elections. The party is more important than any president - states our source from the SDA, NAP reports.
