Izetbegović meets with BiH diaspora, gatherings in several European cities

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - SDA President and member of the BiH Presidency House of Peoples Collegium Bakir Izetbegović will spend the next four days in several European countries and cities as part of the commemoration of November 25th, Statehood Day of BiH, organized by the Diaspora Center "Mreža".

Although the entire program runs from 11/18/2021 to 11/29/2021, during which a series of events and three gatherings of businessmen and successful Bosniaks in the diaspora will be organized, Izetbegović will visit five cities and return to Sarajevo on Monday, November 22nd.

Speakers at the events, in addition to Izetbegović, will include the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković, mayors of Jajce (Edin Hozan), Travnik (Kenan Dautović), Sanski Most (Faris Hasanbegović), Konjic (Osman Ćatić), Breza (Vedad Jusić), Doboj Istok (Kemal Bratić), RS National Assembly representative Senad Bratić, BiH Consul General in Germany Began Muhić, and President of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Mostar Džafer Alić.

The first gathering with the BiH diaspora will be on November 18th in Rotterdam, followed by large gatherings in Stuttgart, Mainz, Wiltz (Luxembourg), Brussels, Saarbrücken, Gaggenau, Ingolstadt, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Hanover, and other cities.

The Diaspora Center "Mreža" states that the events are part of their planned activities, where by commemorating fundamental and most important state holidays, they try to animate the strong patriotic feelings present in the diaspora and, through a series of meetings, mediate better networking between the diaspora and the homeland.

At the events, in addition to speeches by special guests, the exhibition "Bosnian Language" will be opened, in the creation of which a large number of scientists participated at the invitation of the Center. The exhibition provides information on who the name Bosnian language refers to, then information about the five dialectal types of the Bosnian language, the scripts used in the past, Bosančica, Arebica, and the first dictionaries. It answers the question of what is characteristic of the Bosnian language, and deals with the role of Franciscans who considered themselves Bosniaks and named their mother tongue Bosnian.

"Mreža" found rich material in the Archives of BiH concerning the pivotal year 1907, when the Provincial Government abolished the Bosnian language and replaced it with Serbo-Croatian. A large number of panels present what literary giants such as Mak Dizdar, Skender Kulenović, Miroslav Krleža, Isidora Sekulić, and Alija Isaković said about the Bosnian language.
