Izetbegović discusses solution for filling the House of Peoples of the Federal Parliament with Wigemark

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović received the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark. They exchanged opinions on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special focus on the continuation of reform processes and amendments to the electoral legislation. Chairman Izetbegović emphasized that there was a willingness to accept a temporary solution proposed by the international community for amendments to the Election Law of BiH, but that after the rejection by HDZ, that opportunity was missed.

Because of this, the bloc of parties in the Parliament of FBiH was forced to create a solution to overcome the crisis in the implementation of election results and the formation of government in the Federation of BiH.

Izetbegović stressed that the proposed solution for forming the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH takes into account the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH, but does not deviate from the Constitution of FBiH, and should be acceptable to all.

Wigemark informed Izetbegović about the Report of the Joint Commission on Local Governance, which was funded by the European Union. This report analyzed the functioning of local governance in Bosnia and Herzegovina and provided recommendations on steps that need to be taken to align with European standards.
