Izetbegović: The resolution removes the burden from the Serbian people, but they avoid facing the truth

(Patria) - SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović commented on yesterday's adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica before the UN General Assembly, and also referred to the reactions from the smaller BiH entity and Serbia.

(Patria) - The United Nations General Assembly today adopted the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica. 84 UN member states voted for the resolution at today's session in New York, while 19 voted against. The outcome of the vote in the General Assembly

- If some people in BiH don't understand, they will understand better from the reactions of those who are currently leading the government in Republika Srpska and Serbia, especially in Serbia.

They perceived this as a catastrophe and tried to shift the burden of their own responsibility onto the people, to use the Serbian people as a buffer between themselves and that responsibility - said Izetbegović, reports Faktor.ba.

According to him, this worries them because, among other things, it spoils their plans, as they needed a relativization of responsibility and an equalization of sides.

- In order to invoke rights to self-determination, in order to realize a project whose physiognomy is already clearly visible - the unification of "Serb lands", all Serbs should live in one state, all of this that Milorad Dodik embodies and does in BiH for years with increasing intensity - said Izetbegović.

He adds that, however, the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica has definitively put those plans ad acta.

He points out that he is not surprised by such a reaction, "such despair" in Serbia, and even in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- It removes the burden from the Serbian people. Of course, the people are not guilty, but the Serbian people avoid facing the truth.

The Serbian people elect, and then expect those they elect to tell them that everyone is equally guilty. And that is not true. Of course, individuals are guilty.

And when you list all the individuals responsible for ethnic cleansing, camps, mass rapes, murders of tens of thousands of people, and finally genocide.

So, the entire structure - state, intelligence, military, and I would say intellectual, religious - and infrastructure in the Serbian corpus in the early 90s.

The Serbian people need brave intellectuals who will finally help them face the truth, to ease their burden in that way.

And not as Dobrica Ćosić says - "we lie to make it easier for ourselves and others". There is no relief in lies, and truth is medicine, even when it is bitter - added the SDA president.
