Izetbegović: Radončić is both my rival and collaborator, there is a place for Čampara in SDA

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – SDA President Bakir Izetbegović stated that the US Embassy and the EU Delegation are asking him and Dragan Čović, President of HDZ BiH, to find a solution for the Election Law. He reiterated for FTV that there will be no further negotiations until the Local Elections are concluded.

Izetbegović stated that he did not betray the agreement with Čović, but rather they gave their word to try to find a solution.

“SDA defends the civic principle. We gave our word that we would try to resolve something that has been pending for 12 years. I don't see a way to create something between the wishes of SDA and civic parties and HDZ. We cannot negotiate under duress,” said Izetbegović.

The SDA President also spoke about his relationship with the SBB President, Fahrudin Radončić.

“It is bad for Bosnia and Herzegovina, for a very fragile government, to have renewed disputes with Mr. Radončić. I remain silent on many things. Mr. Radončić says he would leave the FBiH Government. Mr. Radončić is a capable and pragmatic politician; with a modest election result, he managed to be in power, and he should be congratulated for that. We forgive him for saying things sometimes before elections. Before the local elections, he needs to distance himself from SDA. We are rivals and collaborators and coalition partners at the same time,” he explained.

Regarding the KS Government, the SDA President stated that it is “on thin ice” because it depends on the 18th vote.

“It is not impossible that we will return in half a year or a year. The government led by Edin Forto had strong PR. With this one, it was the opposite. This government did a lot but boasted little. We will see what happens,” he said.

When asked about the accusations made by Aljoša Čampara against SDA, which led him to resign from his position as a member of the Presidency, Izetbegović stated that he had not seen any serious accusations. Speaking about the Asim Sarajlić case, the SDA President emphasized that Čampara thought everything should go back to the beginning (election of the President of the KO SDA Sarajevo), but other members did not think so. He stated that there is a place for Čampara in SDA.

“Mr. Čampara is my friend, I would like him to stay in the party; no one has advanced faster. At this moment, he holds three positions,” said Izetbegović.
