Izetbegović called on the EU to grant BiH candidate status

Speaking at the Forum for Prosperity and Employment in Sarajevo, Bakir Izetbegović, Chairman of the Presidency of BiH called on the European Union to immediately grant BiH candidate status, writes the Patria News Agency.

- BiH deserves it and we should resolve all conditions in negotiations immediately – said Izetbegović, adding that the development agreement must be the result of consensus.

- There must be 100,000 jobs in eight years. We have many opportunities for export and we can attract investments. It is also necessary to review the performance of individual institutions, revise privatization and the origin of assets – added Izetbegović, specifying that the floods affected 44 municipalities, which is approximately 1.7 million inhabitants.

Vjekoslav Bevanda, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, said that BiH is going through a cataclysm and that nature has shown its wild nature.

- And this will cost us a lot. Help is coming from all sides. One million people are endangered. I am pleased with this forum on employment. We need help with both investments and reforms. We must sort out taxes and strengthen the fight against corruption. Revenue decline from the Indirect Taxation Authority will be 50 percent lower, and now it is 30 percent. We need help - says Bevanda, adding that it will be worst if young people start leaving, writes Patria.
