Izetbegović confirmed as SDA president, "Jedna si jedina" anthem played

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The current president of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Bakir Izetbegović, will remain in that position for the next four years, and his re-election was confirmed at today's 7th SDA Congress. Izetbegović was the only candidate for the SDA presidency. The delegates present supported Izetbegović's appointment as SDA president by acclamation, i.e., public voting, after which the former anthem of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, "Jedna si jedina," was played. Some delegates abstained during the vote.

"Thank you, dear friends. I spoke a lot today, and we need to continue working. We must continue our work and fight for our one and only BiH," Izetbegović said.

Bakir Izetbegović was born on June 28, 1956, in Sarajevo, where he completed primary and secondary school, and then the Faculty of Architecture. He has been a member of the SDA since its founding in 1990 and has held the position of president since 2015.

In the 2000 General Elections, he was a candidate for the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton and was elected with 6,729 votes, and the following year he was elected to the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament. In the 2006 General Elections, he was a candidate for the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and won the mandate with 23,505 votes. Four years later, he was elected a member of the Presidency of BiH for the first time, which he repeated in 2014. He currently holds the position of Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
