Izetbegović learned from journalists that Čović would not come: You can do this to the SDA only once!

HDZ BiH leader Dragan Čović did not show up tonight at 6 PM for the agreed meeting with SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović at the restaurant “Orahovica” in Konjic, reports the news agency Patria.

After 40 minutes of waiting, Izetbegović and members of his delegation left the restaurant.

-I would not have come here if Čović had informed his coalition partner, rather than journalists, that he would not come. We had a scheduled meeting. Our coalition partner HDZ BiH did not come to the scheduled meeting. Today they missed the chance to agree with the SDA on important matters for this country. You can do this to the SDA only once, said Izetbegović as he left the agreed meeting place.

He emphasized that as far as the state and government are concerned, they will continue to function.

-And that everyone, after a brief period of anger, will return and work for their people. Such an attitude does no good to anyone in this country, stressed Izetbegović, adding that it has nothing to do with political leaders making political agreements in restaurants rather than institutions.

The SDA president said that the coalition at the state level is not shaken, and that today he met with Mladen Bosić, with whom he had coffee and talked.

-We resolved the Coordination Mechanism and the arrangement with the IMF. Isn't it good for this country that the relationship between Banja Luka and Sarajevo is good, Izetbegović asked at the end.

Tonight in Konjic, Izetbegović was accompanied by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the Federal Prime Minister, Denis Zvidić and Fadil Novalić. In the HDZ BiH delegation, besides Čović, the Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Vjekoslav Bevanda and the Federal Minister of Finance Jelka Milićević were supposed to be present.

Čović and Izetbegović parted ways and exchanged harsh words after the presidents of the SDA and SNSD agreed on the Coordination Mechanism and signed the Letter of Intent for the IMF on Sunday.

For the HDZ BiH president, who sent a letter to European Union leaders, the Coordination Mechanism is not good for Croats because, in his opinion, it bypasses “one level of government,” namely the cantons.

However, Izetbegović claims that no one is threatened by the agreed Coordination Mechanism, and that what he agreed with Dodik is good for BiH on its path to the EU.

The agreement between Izetbegović and Dodik was also welcomed and accepted by official Brussels.
