Izetbegović on Tihić: He was a tireless fighter for building the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina

(Patria) - SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović commented on the 10th anniversary of the death of Sulejman Tihić, former president of the SDA.

"10 years ago, Sulejman Tihić passed away to a better world, president of the SDA and former member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our Sulejman was largely described by his surname. We remember him as a quiet and measured man, but also as a persistent, capable and courageous politician.

After surviving the Golgotha in Serbian concentration camps, he led policy with dignity and calm in the interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosniaks, making a significant contribution to the processes of reintegration, reconciliation and rebuilding trust among peoples and citizens.

We will especially remember him as a tireless fighter for building the institutions of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which he achieved significant results with the support of the international community. During his term in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, our state was definitively oriented towards Euro-Atlantic integrations.

For more than a decade, he led the largest political organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina and dealt with complicated processes in the intricate Bosnian political reality determined by the Dayton Agreement. He did this successfully, promoting a 'step by step' policy, which, through difficult compromises, slowly but surely brought progress to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We will remember Sulejman as a successful politician, but also a good man, an exemplary father and husband," Izetbegović stated.
