Izetbegović on the Revision of the Lawsuit: A Crisis Awaits Us, but This Is a Matter of Our Attitude Toward the Milošević Regime

After the Presidency of the Party of Democratic Action held a session in Sarajevo today, the party's president Bakir Izetbegović addressed the media. The focus of his address was related to the possible consequences that will arise from the revision of the lawsuit, Patria reports.

The request for revision of the judgment of Bosnia and Herzegovina against Serbia before the International Court of Justice in The Hague is a matter of truth and justice from which no one has the right to deviate. Therefore, this issue should be treated primarily as a moral and legal one: if the conditions for filing a revision are met, it should be done, and this issue must not be politicized.

- The revision of the lawsuit is not directed against the Serbian people. It is a matter of our attitude toward the genocide committed by the Milošević regime in Bosnia and Herzegovina – said Izetbegović.

He added that he believes we will face the biggest crisis since Dayton.

- But, it is expected of me to actively stop the agent in his attempt, but who am I to do that. This is not something directed against the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, it is a matter of our attitude toward the horrors committed here by the Milošević regime - he said.

Izetbegović emphasized that the revision should be initiated if the expert group led by agent Sakib Softić assesses that there are grounds for such a move.

- A decision on this will be made in the next 10 days – Izetbegović pointed out.

Izetbegović said that he has requests from Nikšić (Nermin Nikšić, ed.) and some other relevant people from the political and academic world to make this matter, as Softić also requested, more transparent and to reach a joint decision.

- I will invite experts, people from the world of politics, academia, religious leaders, around 50 to 80 people, and a decision will be made – added Izetbegović.

The president of the SDA also answered a question about the current state of the coalition and relations with the SBB.

- What Avaz writes, of course we must link to Radončić, although he claims he does not influence editorial policy. Every protest sent a bad message, it is the last thing we need at this moment. The SDA has repeatedly condemned the ambiguous behavior of the SBB president, we cannot fool ourselves that he has nothing to do with what is being written. We call on him not to play with something that can harm us all - Izetbegović explained.
