Izetbegović meets Erdogan: Political situation in BiH and problems created by Milorad Dodik discussed

(Patria) - Chairman of the Party of Democratic Action Bakir Izetbegović met today in Istanbul with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The meeting discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special focus on intensified propaganda and lobbying activities aimed at imposing a distorted picture of the situation in our country in certain international circles.

Izetbegović pointed out attempts to present Bosnia and Herzegovina in the international arena through stereotypes of radicalism and security threats associated with Muslims, and to promote the thesis of the endangerment of Christians and the dominance of Muslims, thereby consciously producing fear and encouraging Islamophobic narratives.

In parallel, attempts are being made to impose the perception that Bosnia and Herzegovina is an unsustainable state, that coexistence and equality of peoples are impossible, and that divisions are the only realistic solution. It was assessed that such constructions have no basis in reality, but can find fertile ground in certain political and ideological circles.

It was emphasized that this is an attempt to switch the narrative, diverting the attention of the international public from the real problems, which are continuous attacks on the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina and secessionist policies that destabilize the region.

Given the complex geopolitical circumstances, it was assessed that attempts to create false narratives must be countered with truth, active diplomacy, and strengthening international alliances.

Izetbegović requested the support of President Erdoğan, as one of the world's leading leaders with strong international influence and good relations with the administration of the United States of America, in order to present an objective picture of relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina in relevant decision-making centers and prevent the spread of harmful and dangerous disinformation.
