Izetbegović and Erdogan discussed highway construction

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović met with the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the sidelines of the first summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on science and technology, which is being held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.

As announced after the session of the SDA Presidency, Izetbegović used this opportunity to discuss the construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade highway with Erdoğan.

President Erdoğan confirmed Turkey's readiness to actively participate in the realization of this project, as soon as the highway route is determined, about which there is still no agreement in BiH.

Izetbegović informed Erdoğan about the progress made so far in fulfilling the conditions for the activation of the MAP. The President of Turkey expressed his full support for BiH's path towards Euro-Atlantic integration. He confirmed that Turkey will continue to strongly advocate for the MAP to be activated as soon as possible.

Izetbegović invited Erdoğan to visit BiH, and his invitation was accepted. During the Summit in Astana, Izetbegović will have a series of bilateral meetings with the presidents of OIC member states. Otherwise, this is the first time that the OIC is organizing a summit dedicated to the development of science and technology in the Islamic world.
