Izetbegović and Čović on 'communication noise': A third entity is not being created!

(Patria) - A delegation of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) led by party leader Bakir Izetbegović held a meeting with a delegation of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) in Mostar.

The main topic of the meeting was the formation of government, especially the division of portfolios between parties, or rather national blocs. However, as Dragan Čović and Izetbegović stated after the meeting, they spoke very openly about the mutual relations between these two political parties.

“Everything necessary regarding the FBiH Government was on the table. Electoral legislation must be resolved, we talked about the need for legitimate election of people's representatives, as well as about the City of Mostar. We made conclusions for ourselves. We discussed the reorganization of the FBiH Government. One of the points was trust between us, so we tried to explain why no one from SDA was at the Economic Fair in Mostar, why my absence at the Eid reception was considered intentional. We have some noise in communication,” Čović said.

Bakir Izetbegović emphasized that next week he will hold a meeting of political parties “in the format of SDA, HDZ, and SNSD.”

“In the meantime, we will have meetings regarding the division of portfolios. We are going step by step. The activation of the National Annual Programme will remain imprecisely defined, I hope we will find a solution. When it comes to the federal level, HDZ insists on defining a solution to the Election Law in a way that respects the Constitutional Court's ruling, but the rulings from Strasbourg should also be implemented in parallel,” Izetbegović added.

He stated that SDA and HDZ had an “unusually honest conversation about their mutual relationship.”

“We need more frequent communication. We talked about sensitive topics – the Herceg-Bosna channel, the third entity. I am satisfied with the answer. I was told that they do not intend to create a third entity. They said that only irresponsible Bosniak politics could lead to the creation of a third entity. TV Herceg-Bosna has existed for a long time…” Izetbegović pointed out.
