Izetbegović wanted to ban Pećanin from KCUS: Prosecutor ordered lawyer's presence at inventory

Lawyer of dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanović, Senad Pećanin, warned the Commission for the handover of duties of the Head of the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology that the inventory of private items found in the office and private correspondence is a criminal offense, reports the Patria agency.

- Dr. Gavrankapetanović is neither under investigation nor has he been arrested, and even if he were, they are not the body that could be authorized to conduct such an inventory. I have informed them about this several times, as well as that I will inform the public and that they should inform the one from whom they received the order to do so.

Pećanin said that there is an atmosphere of fear at KCUS and that it is also present at the Clinic for Orthopedics and Traumatology.

- The inventory of private items has continued for the fourth day, and Prof. Gavrankapetanović has been prevented from taking his private belongings because the inventory has not been completed. Today, a lawyer came and threatened me that I would be banned from accessing KCSU. I have informed both the police team and the Prosecutor's Office. The police conducted an on-site inspection and informed the duty cantonal prosecutor, who ordered that I must be allowed to be present at the inventory, i.e., the work of the Commission – said Pećanin, emphasizing that the Commission is inventorying dr. Gavrankapetanović's private belongings. 

- Even the pockets on the coats are being counted and recorded on the inventory lists. 

When asked how long this process could last, he said that the “intimidating, humiliating procedure will last for days.”

- This is an attempt to introduce an autocratic model of management of the most significant healthcare institution in BiH. The entire problem started at the Orthopedics Clinic when the director decided to dismiss dr. Gavrankapetanović, which she has the right to do, but the way it was done caused outrage among the doctors, who wrote about it in an open letter – said Pećanin, adding that they were threatened with all sorts of things and that criminal charges were filed. 

He added that the current situation is about instilling fear among people who are doing their jobs and that this is an issue that should concern all citizens, not only of Sarajevo Canton but of the entire BiH.
