Izetbegović: Dautbašić passed checks and can be appointed minister

At today's session of the SDA Presidency held in Sarajevo, several issues were discussed - the reform agenda, the coalition with SBB, the adoption of the coordination mechanism, writes the news agency Patria.

Addressing journalists after the session concluded, SDA President Bakir Izetbegović said that the coalition with SBB has contributed to the stabilization of the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- We asked for appointments in the Council of Ministers to be made as soon as possible so that we can continue working at full capacity - Izetbegović said.

When asked by journalists whether the case of Bakir Dautbašić could affect the appointments in the Council of Ministers, Izetbegović emphasized that there is something called the presumption of innocence.

 - They passed all those checks. Dautbašić can be appointed, as well as other candidates for deputy minister of defense. I would not like to assume or speculate now what will be shown through the work of the Prosecutor's Office, but the appointments can be made.

Regarding the application for EU membership, Izetbegović said that the SDA believes that the application needs to be made credible regardless of when it will be submitted, through the urgent adoption of an effective coordination mechanism that would be adapted to the Stabilization and Association Agreement.

He added that for the credibility of the application, it is also necessary to publish the final results of the 2013 population census.
