Izetbegović: Ćesir attacked the camera, not the cameraman

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Huso Ćesir attacked the camera, not the cameraman, SDA leader Bakir Izetbegović stated today, regarding the attack by the president of the SDA Novi Grad Municipal Board, Huso Ćesir, on Žurnal photographer Adi Kebo. 

"Of course, we will condemn any form of violence. When journalists sanction and expel even one such person for whom the truth is not sacred, then we will also expel Ćesir. His nerves got the better of him and he did something he shouldn't have," Izetbegović said about the attack that happened two days ago, N1 reports.

Kebo was attacked while performing his duties, photographing the entrance to the company Bosnaplast, whose business Žurnal had reported on. At the moment of the assault, Kebo was on the sidewalk across from the company, on public property. Footage of the incident, during which Ćesir pushed the photojournalist and tried to take his camera, was recorded on video and can be seen on Žurnal's portal.

After today's session of the SDA Main Board, GO President Čedomir Lukić stated that "such an activity was condemned, with the competent authorities to proceed with their work, and Mr. Izetbegović and some SDA officials have already expressed a stance that is shared by the entire SDA membership and the Main Board."

"My stance is that it is unacceptable for anyone to attack officials, including journalists.

When asked if any steps would be taken within the party against Huso Ćesir, Lukić said that it would be considered by the party bodies and certain decisions would be made.

"The general stance of the party is that we cannot support or accept this in any way. The party does not support any violence."
