Izetbegović defends Sarajlić, sanctions for Efendić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Bakir Izetbegović, SDA President, said after today's Collegium session that SDA has more serious issues than the "Asim" affair. He said that Sarajlić made a mistake, but that we should not forget that Asim Sarajlić "defended BiH and was seriously wounded twice".

"People did things they shouldn't have, but they will answer before the prosecutor's office and the court, as well as before SDA. Among thousands of SDA members, such things happen," said Izetbegović.

He announced that Semir Efendić, the mayor of Novi Grad municipality who released a compromising recording, will bear political responsibility.

"He should have reported it to the competent authorities first, and then to the SDA Presidency, so as not to jeopardize the party's reputation and the electoral process. Not to go public because it is illegal," he said.

When asked if there are two clans in SDA, Izetbegović and Zvizdić rejected such claims.

"Which clans, Gatački and Poljinski, is that? It is precisely that 'Gatački clan' that brought the cream, perhaps it is too caloric and gives strength," said the SDA President.

Tomorrow, a meeting between SDA and HDZ BiH will be held in Mostar, and Izetbegović said he does not think an agreement will be reached.
