Citizens warned to avoid landslide and river zones due to rainfall

The Government of the Federation of BiH held a session where the current situation with water levels and weather forecasts for the coming days was discussed.

- On Friday night to Saturday, especially during the weekend, changeable weather is expected with rain, showers, thunderstorms, and in some places hail. More rainfall is expected in the northern, northeastern, and locally in the central parts of Bosnia - according to the forecast of the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute.

According to the Government's information, water levels on all rivers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were slightly decreasing yesterday and were mostly below the regular and extraordinary flood defense levels.

According to the weather forecast, although the amount of predicted rainfall is of low to moderate intensity, due to the high index of previous rainfall and soil saturation with water, increases in water levels can be expected in areas affected by rainfall, according to the statement from the Government of FBiH.

Due to new rainfall, there is a possibility of new landslides and the reactivation of existing ones.

Therefore, from the session of the Federal Government, a warning was issued to citizens to avoid staying in the zones and facilities of registered and active landslides and immediately adjacent to watercourses.
