ELECTORAL LAW Izetbegović and Čović Meet in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Presidents of SDA and HDZ BiH Bakir Izetbegović and Dragan Čović will hold their first meeting today to begin negotiations on amendments to the Election Law of BiH, which should be agreed upon by the end of the year. The meeting will be held in the morning hours at the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

Izetbegović confirmed that he will meet with Čović but does not expect anything special to happen at the first meeting. 

High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko said that during the signing of the Agreement for Mostar (elections), it was agreed that a draft Election Law would be produced by the end of the year, and the amended Law by the end of 2021.

"Also, it was agreed that all rulings of domestic and international courts would be respected. I don't think there will be concrete results, but it is important to establish trust between HDZ and SDA, as well as trust between Croats and Bosniaks," Inzko told N1.

Ahead of the negotiations with SDA, Čović met with Plenković in Mostar, where they also discussed amendments to the law that should enable the "legitimate representation of Croats" according to the wishes of HDZ BiH.
