ELECTION LAW Palmer and Eichhorst continue talks with political representatives

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - It is the third day of the visit of European representative Angelina Eichhorst, Director at the European External Action Service (EEAS), and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Matthew Palmer, and the envoy for electoral reform in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Intensive talks with political representatives will continue today, while over the previous two days several meetings were held with both the ruling parties and the opposition.

On the very first day, Palmer and Eichhorst stated that elections must be held in 2022 and that fair and transparent elections reflecting the true will of voters must be ensured.  

These officials are expected to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina until December 2, and possibly longer, in order to try to find an acceptable solution for amendments to the Election Law and limited constitutional changes. 

The focus of the talks is with the presidents of HDZ BiH and SDA, Dragan Čović and Bakir Izetbegović, although a joint meeting was also held with Milorad Dodik, the president of SNSD.
