SDP BiH Presidential Elections on September 20, Congress on October 3

At today's session of the Main Board of the Social Democratic Party of BiH held in Sarajevo, two decisions were made, the first being the announcement of presidential elections within SDP BiH on September 20, 2015, based on the principle of One Member-One Vote, confirmed Damir Mašić, member of the SDP Presidency, for the BiH news agency Patria.

The second decision is to convene the 6th SDP Congress for October 3, 2015, in Sarajevo, where 858 delegates from across the country will elect a new Main Board, and consider the innovated Statute and Program of SDP BiH.

The session was attended by the president of SDP BiH, Nermin Nikšić, who will again be a candidate for party president.

At the Main Board session, the Report on the conducted intra-party elections for presidents of municipal, city, cantonal, and regional boards under the one member - one vote system was adopted.

The Main Board once again stated that SDP is the only political party in Bosnia and Herzegovina that first introduced and then successfully implemented this system, which represents the highest degree of intra-party democracy in which all members equally decide on all key issues within the party.

The Main Board most sharply condemned the solutions, as well as the manner in which the government in the Federation of BiH adopted and sent the Labor Law to parliamentary procedure. It is shameful that it was adopted by the FBiH Government without the consent of the Independent Trade Unions of BiH, as well as the consent of the Economic and Social Council in the Federation of BiH.

SDP will use all democratic means to prevent the adoption of a law that diminishes the rights of already disenfranchised workers and that exclusively benefits neo-capitalists who already exploit workers and abuse and violate existing legal solutions.
