ELECTION OF BOGIĆEVIĆ City Council session by March 15, the Four have a secure 16 councilors

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After the Central Election Commission of BiH today confirmed 28 mandates for city councilors from four city municipalities (Stari Grad, Centar, Novo Sarajevo, Novi Grad), two days remain for filing appeals. At the CEC session, the decisions on confirmed mandates were unanimously adopted without discussion.

The City Council includes 12 Bosniaks, six Croats, six Serbs, and four Others.

The deadline for convening the constitutive session of the City Council is 14 days from the day of mandate confirmation, and it is expected that the last day of the deadline will not be waited for, and that this process, together with the election of the mayor and deputy mayor, could be completed by mid-March at the latest.

The only known candidate for mayor is Bogić Bogićević, who is the proposal of the SDP BiH, and around whom there is general agreement among the partners in the Four. Out of 28 councilors, the Four has 16 councilors. They will be joined by the Platform for Progress and one independent councilor. The City Council includes the most councilors from the People and Justice party (7), followed by Our Party (5), SDP BiH (3), NBL (1), Platform for Progress (1), SDA (3), DF (1), BOSS (1), USD (1), Alliance for Stari Grad (1), and independent councilors (4).

All four independent councilors are no longer in the parties or clubs of the parties on whose lists they won mandates. Such is the case with Jasmin Skorupan, who entered the Stari Grad Municipal Council from the LDS list. Interestingly, Skorupan received one seat from the Serb quota in the Sarajevo City Council, and on the candidate list he was with councilors from SDP BiH from Stari Grad. As confirmed to Patria, Skorupan is not an official member of SDP BiH, and therefore cannot be counted in the SDP BiH quota in the City Council. Lajla Ćosović won her mandate in the Centar Municipal Council from the SDA list, and a few days ago, along with two other colleagues, she left the club of that party and will act as an independent councilor. In Novo Sarajevo, Srđan Srdić entered from the NIP list, who is no longer in that party, and in Novi Grad, Enisa Spahić won a mandate from the Our Party list, from which she later withdrew. She supported the majority led by the SDA in Novi Grad, and in return received a seat in the City Council.

In any case, it will be interesting to follow the further development of the situation in the municipal councils, as well as the City Council, and whether the fragmentation of parties and changing of allegiances will continue.

Regarding the two deputy mayors, NIP and Our Party will each nominate one candidate. For now, it is known that one of the candidates is Haris Bašić from NIP, and that party also received the position of Chairperson of the City Council. Although there is no official confirmation yet, this could be Jasmin Ademović.
