Islamic Community in BiH Buys Former Feros Factory in Srebrenica: An Opportunity for New Jobs

SREBRENICA, (Patria) - The Islamic Community Board of Srebrenica recently successfully completed the purchase of the land and facilities of the former Feros factory in Potočari, and today an action was organized to clean the factory premises and surrounding land. Numerous residents of Srebrenica responded to the call, bringing the necessary tools, machinery, and enthusiasm.  

"We thank everyone who contributed today and started cleaning a part of this large and important waqf complex. Our progress lies in our unity and community. May God reward you all! Amen," stated the Islamic Community Board of Srebrenica.

These 35 dunams (18 dunams of agricultural land and a factory complex of 17 dunams), which has now become waqf, are of great importance to all Bosniaks, especially to the mothers of Srebrenica and the Bosniaks of Podrinje, as stated by the Islamic Community of BiH. As emphasized, the plan is to launch production facilities on this land, which will revive the economic power of this area. 

The Islamic Community Board of Srebrenica received support from the Riyaset of the Islamic Community in BiH and the Mufti of Tuzla. The purchase was aided by Bosniaks who demonstrated great awareness of the importance of this project.

Damir ef. Peštalić, the chief imam of the Islamic Community Board of Srebrenica, says that the purchase of the former "Feros" factory is a major project.

"This is one of the most important projects we have managed to accomplish in Srebrenica, and thanks to our Reis Husein ef. Kavazović and Mufti of Tuzla Vahid ef. Fazlović, who reacted quickly when we informed them that the former 'Feros' factory was for sale. The Islamic Community in BiH purchased this space and facilities, thanks to good people – waqifs. We still don't know the names of the people who participated in the purchase. This space is now a waqf of the Islamic Community of BiH. This is a waqf that we will make available to our people, to investors who are interested in opening factories and plants here, and employing the people who live here," said ef. Peštalić.
