The Health Center in Odžak is full of patients from surrounding areas, and for the Patria News Agency, Dr. Damir Hamidović, an internist working in dialysis and internal medicine, says that doctors are working 24 hours. He himself worked at full capacity for eight days without a moment's rest.
- We received 40 new patients from Bosanski Šamac for dialysis and we are regularly dialyzing them, and so far we haven't had any major problems. We ran out of the necessary medications for dialysis, but fortunately, supplies arrived by helicopter – says Hamidović.
The city center was not flooded, but on the south side, 200 meters from the entrance from Sarajevo, water reached the city entrance, and on the north side, all villages along the Sava and Bosna rivers were flooded.
- Only the city center is dry, there was no flooding. We had electricity and water, so we somehow managed to overcome the newly created situation – added Hamidović.
Odžak is generally facing a snake infestation, and Hamidović witnessed it in the field.
- In the village of Modrički Luk, two kilometers from Odžak, a man caught five snakes within an hour. I don't know if they are venomous, but we have to administer serums for every bite, which is why it is important to procure as many as possible – added Hamidović.
