Out of respect for Sušić, I will not answer whether I would be the BiH coach

Mehmed Baždarević, a renowned BiH footballer and football coach, is one of those mentioned as a possible successor to Safet Sušić at the helm of the BiH national team, writes the Patria news agency. However, Baždarević, with all the love he has for BiH and the desire to become a coach, did not want to comment on this topic.

- It is inappropriate to talk about whether someone would like to take over the national team, of course they would, but it is pointless to talk about it now. To coach the national team of the country you played for, where you were born, isn't that a dream come true, but out of respect for Safet Sušić, I wouldn't talk about it. If the time comes, we'll see – Baždarević told NAP.

The popular Meša was the first captain of the BiH national team, for which he played 11 games, and Meša viewed the Dragons' appearances in Brazil positively and is proud of the success they achieved simply by qualifying.

- We were all proud and happy to have qualified for the World Cup, and we must not say at any moment that we are dissatisfied. As for me, the impression is extremely positive. Of the three games, we played two against renowned national teams that, on paper, had more experience and everything than us right from the start. I would congratulate the national team players, the professional staff, well, did we expect more because we are fans, yes, because we are not realistic – Baždarević added.

The BiH coach, based in France, says that when the matches ended, everyone thought we could have done a little more, but for a first experience at the World Cup, this was more than excellent.

- We managed to satisfy the world public. Maybe we should have done a little more, but for me, the BiH national team was represented extremely well at the World Cup. I'm saying this as a fan, I don't know if I'm objective. There was certainly room for something more. I wouldn't talk about refereeing decisions, about luck, fatigue, let the professional staff do that – Baždarević said.

Otherwise, Baždarević read about the negativity surrounding the national team, but also stated that the "ball needs to be brought down," as qualifications for the Euro begin very soon.

- I am a coach and I was a former player, but I think we need to look at things this way: players are good, bad, needed or not. The BiH national team needs both old and young players, and if there are players who are exhausted not in their legs but in their heads, the professional staff and people from the Association should resolve that – Baždarević added, emphasizing that decisions should not be made hastily.
