MUP KS Warns: Steep Fines for Using Pyrotechnics

(Patria) - Police officers of the MUP KS Administration will be implementing enhanced security measures and controls in the KS area from tomorrow until January 15, 2024, where a large number of domestic and foreign tourists are expected for the upcoming holidays.

"We remind the citizens of Sarajevo Canton, as well as all guests, that the Law on Offenses Against Public Order and Peace stipulates a fine of 300 to 900 KM for the offense of possessing, igniting, giving away, selling, buying, or offering firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in a public place without the approval of the competent authority.

If children and minors do so, their parents or guardians can be fined from 400 to 1,200 KM.

We draw attention to the fact that the use of pyrotechnic devices can cause severe burns, serious damage to hearing and vision, as well as injuries to fingers and the entire hand, which can result in permanent disability.

The MUP KS Police Administration appeals to citizens not to use and not to allow children and minors to use pyrotechnic devices, and for all of us to show responsibility towards the vulnerable categories of our society and fellow citizens with various health problems that the sound and light effects of pyrotechnic devices particularly disturb.

Furthermore, extremely harmful consequences of pyrotechnic devices on the health and well-being of animals have been proven.

The MUP KS Police Administration will, as in previous years, cooperate with the Cantonal Administration for Inspection Affairs in activities to suppress the illegal distribution and use of pyrotechnic devices in the Sarajevo Canton area," the cantonal MUP announced.
