Ministry of Sarajevo Canton announces intensification of healthcare reorganization

(Patria) - The Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton announces the intensification of activities for restructuring healthcare services and reorganizing healthcare institutions of Sarajevo Canton, as well as introducing the health sector within the framework of the Federal Law on Health Care.

The goals are a clear division of labor in the organization of healthcare in Sarajevo Canton, accessible and quality healthcare services for citizens, as well as better working conditions for employees in this field.

"Although the Assembly adopted the Plan for Restructuring Healthcare Services and Reorganizing Healthcare Institutions of Sarajevo Canton in April 2017, with the aim of aligning their organization and activities with the aforementioned Law, the defined activities, unfortunately, have still not been implemented. This has caused negative consequences for healthcare users, as well as for employees in healthcare institutions. Despite the fact that significant funds are allocated for healthcare, our healthcare system is irrationally organized and satisfactory results have not been achieved in terms of a clear division of labor in the organization of healthcare," the Ministry states.

The Minister of Health of Sarajevo Canton, Prof. Dr. Haris Vranić, has appointed a working group that will, based on an analysis of the situation in the healthcare sector, propose necessary activities for restructuring healthcare services and reorganizing healthcare institutions and, if necessary, amendments to the existing Plan. The proposed activities will be submitted for consideration to the Government and the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton.
