KUCZ KS calls for preventive protection measures due to forecasted storm

(Patria) - The Cantonal Civil Protection Administration of Sarajevo Canton calls on all legal and natural persons to take preventive measures prescribed by the Law on Protection and Rescue of People and Material Goods from Natural and Other Disasters, due to the forecasted storm.

They warn that the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute has issued an orange warning for strong to stormy, locally hurricane-force winds, with wind gusts expected to reach speeds of 60 to 80 km/h, and locally around/above 90 km/h tonight and tomorrow until 3:00 PM across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. More intense showers accompanied by thunder are also forecast for tomorrow, which may affect the area of Sarajevo Canton.

The KUCZ calls for taking necessary preventive protection measures against strong wind and rainfall, i.e., preparing adequate forces and material-technical resources for a rapid response to the forecasted strong wind gusts and rainfall.

"We especially appeal to legal entities conducting work on construction sites not to leave objects that could, due to strong wind, fall from building roofs, scaffolding, and the like, thereby endangering the safety of passersby.

Also, we appeal to our fellow citizens not to leave objects on balconies and other open spaces that could, due to wind, endanger the safety of passersby, not to park their vehicles near large trees, and to avoid trips and stays in nature during the period of the orange warning," it was stated.

They also appeal to municipal civil protection services in the area of Sarajevo Canton to put their organized protection and rescue forces on standby, so they are ready to respond in accordance with their competencies and obligations.
Furthermore, they remind all mentioned entities that as soon as they notice or learn of any danger or occurrence that could lead to a natural or other disaster, they should report this information to the Cantonal Operational Center for Civil Protection at telephone number 121, which operates continuously 24 hours a day.
