(Patria) - The lifeless body of miner Asim Šehanović, who remained trapped 170 meters underground for five days, was pulled today from the Tuzla lignite mine "Mramor".
Šehanović was the first digger who entered the 170-meter-deep pit early on Friday morning, but remained trapped there until today after a collapse of earth.
Rescue teams made superhuman efforts, working in three shifts, digging by hand to reach him. A major problem was the constantly collapsing earth.
Until today, it was believed that Šehanović would be rescued alive from the pit, but the multi-day rescue operation unfortunately ended tragically.
