Ivanić: Grmečka korida important for the Serbian people

Member of the BiH Presidency from the Serbian people Mladen Ivanić spoke with the president of the Homeland-Tourist Association for the Preservation and Cultivation of the Tradition of "Grmečka korida Međeđe brdo 1772" Neno Dobrijević, who informed Ivanić about the ban on holding the Grmečka korida in the municipality of Sanski Most.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Una-Sana Canton banned the holding of the Grmečka korida at that location on August 2 this year, with the explanation that an application for holding a religious gathering organized by the Medžlis of the Islamic Community of Ključ was submitted for the same time and same place.

The organizers claim that they requested any other date for holding the Grmečka korida at Međeđe Brdo, but that they did not receive permission.

Ivanić said that he respects the holding of other events in the Una-Sana Canton, but that the Grmečka korida with a tradition of 245 years cannot and must not be interrupted. Ivanić appealed to the authorities of the Una-Sana Canton and the Federation of BiH to enable the holding of this event, which is important for Serbian returnees to this part of BiH, Ivanić's cabinet announced.

The Grmečka korida at Međeđe Brdo has a tradition of 245 years. It was held at the same location, except for a few post-war years, when it was temporarily moved to the municipality of Oštra Luka in the Republika Srpska for security reasons.
